The need for increased care and support for patients with high-risk multiple myeloma
Therapy for multiple myeloma (MM) has been successful in extending patient’s life span. However, Cynthia Chmielewski, Patient Power, Bellevue, WA, believes high-risk MM should be a key area of focus. With this type of disease, the outcome tends to be poor, therefore these patients should receive extra care and support to improve their quality of life. Ms Chmielewski also hopes to see developments in research and future improvements in therapy; for example, precision medicine using biomarkers to guide treatment. This interview was recorded at the 2018 European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) Annual Meeting, in Lisbon, Portugal.
